In just 50 days since the start of the pilgrimage, around 30 lakh people have visited the Char Dham temples. This is a significant increase compared to last year, when it took over two months to reach the same number of pilgrims.
Officials credit this achievement to the government’s efforts to make the pilgrimage more convenient, safe, and smooth. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has played a crucial role in this success. Starting in January, he held regular meetings and conducted site inspections to ensure everything was in place for the pilgrimage. He emphasized to officials the importance of taking the pilgrimage very seriously and ensuring a hassle-free experience for the pilgrims.
The Char Dham temples—Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Badrinath—reopened in May. Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri opened their doors to devotees on May 10, followed by Badrinath on May 12. Right from the opening days, there was a record number of visitors. The initial rush posed some challenges, but the administration managed the situation effectively. In fact, Dhami prioritized the pilgrimage over campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls, focusing instead on managing the influx of pilgrims.
From May 10 to June 30, around 30 lakh people have visited the Char Dham. Last year, the temples reopened on April 22, and it took until June 30 to reach the same number of visitors. This year’s record numbers are a testament to the improved management and facilities provided for the pilgrims. The efforts of the government and the dedication of Chief Minister Dhami have ensured a memorable and smooth pilgrimage experience for millions of devotees.
