Uttarakhand Launches Special Tourist Train from Tamil Nadu to Promote Pilgrimage and Tourism.

The Uttarakhand Tourism Department, in collaboration with IRCTC, will launch a special tourist train called Kedar Badri Kartik (Murugan) Koil Yathirai from June 20. This train will travel from Madurai in Tamil Nadu to Rishikesh, passing through various cities such as Chennai, Vijayawada, and Agra, and will arrive in Rishikesh on June 23. The initiative aims to attract pilgrims from southern India to Uttarakhand new tourist spots, including the Kartik Swami Temple in Rudraprayag, which is significant for devotees of Lord Kartikeya (Murugan in South India).

The train will accommodate 165 passengers, providing them with a 12-day tour package that covers lodging, boarding, and visits to notable destinations like Badrinath and Kedarnath. The compartments of the train are 3AC and decorated to showcase the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand.

This move follows similar efforts where special trains, named Manaskhand Express, were launched from Pune to bring tourists from Maharashtra to Uttarakhand. The Tourism Department plans to extend this initiative to other states like Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. The effort aims to boost tourism and showcase the connection between Uttarakhand and the people of southern India.
