Temperature reached 43.2 degrees in Dehradun, 157 years old record broken.

The outbreak of severe heat is not stopping in Uttarakhand. However, there is a possibility of gusty winds with strong thunder in all the districts of the state today. Light rain may occur with strong thunder at some places, while the series of hot winds will continue in the plains. The heat record of 157 years was broken in Dehradun on Friday. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature of Dehradun was recorded at 43.2 degrees Celsius on Friday. This is the highest temperature ever since the Meteorological Department has been calculating the temperature in Dehradun.

The scorching heat in Dehradun is effecting people, while the hot winds are also preventing them from going out of the house. The scorching hot winds during the day are not giving relief even at night.

42.8 degrees was recorded in 1988

According to Vikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, the Meteorological Department has been calculating the temperature in Dehradun since January 1, 1867. Since then, the heat record was broken for the first time in the year 1988. That year, the maximum temperature of Dehradun was recorded at 42.8. After that, a record of 43.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in 2012 and now on May 31, 2024, the heat broke all records and the mercury reached 43.2 degrees Celsius.

Children and the elderly face more problems

Children and the elderly are facing more problems due to the heat. Children are suffering from vomiting and diarrhea while the elderly are also falling prey to dehydration. The number of such patients in the hospital is also increasing.

According to the Director of Meteorological Center Vikram Singh, the dangerous cyclone Remal that hit Bangladesh last Sunday has also increased the temperature of Uttarakhand. The storm later transformed into winds and with the increase in temperature, these winds became hot. Its maximum impact was felt in Rajasthan and Punjab, but the effect is also being seen in Uttarakhand.

Due to this reason, the temperature here has broken the record of 157 years. The heat is also increasing in the state due to less rainfall. According to the Meteorological Center, the maximum temperature is likely to be 42 degrees Celsius today on Saturday. Due to the increase in temperature, hot winds are blowing in the plains. In the coming days, the temperature is likely to decrease after the first week of June.
