Chief Secretary Radha Raturi on Thursday gave an update on the Char Dham Yatra in the state to Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla in a virtual meeting. The Union Home Secretary directed the Chief Secretary to send a report of pilgrims at the Dhams, travel routes and halting places to the Home Ministry every day. He has also directed to take the help of NDRF and ITBP for crowd management on the travel route if needed.

Along with this, instructions have been given to form a committee for the strategy of Chardham Yatra management in future. He has also laid special emphasis on strict monitoring of Yatra management at the ground level. The Chief Secretary told the Home Secretary that Chardham Yatra is being conducted successfully, safely, easily and smoothly in the state.

He said that all the states, especially the five states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra, from where the maximum number of pilgrims come to Chardham, their chief secretaries were requested through letters and personal talks that pilgrims should come to Chardham only after registration. They should come for Chardham Yatra only on the date for which they have registered.

It was told that offline registration of Chardham Yatra has been stopped till 31 May to maintain the system. The Union Home Secretary assured all possible help and cooperation from the Center for the successful conduct of Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand. Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Sachin Kurve, Dilip Jawalkar, Arvind Singh Hyanki were present in the meeting.

The call center is running 24 hours.

Regarding travel management, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi said, the Tourism Department is running a 24-hour call center. Registered devotees are being checked at Barkot (Yamunotri), Heena (Gangotri), Sonprayag (Kedarnath) and Pandukeshwar (Badrinath). Tokens are being issued to registered devotees for visiting the Dhams at Jankichatti (Yamunotri), Gangotri Temple (Gangotri), Swargarohini (Kedarnath), ISBT, BRO and Mana (Badrinath). Arrangements have been made for the devotees standing in queue in the premises of the temples to visit the Dhams by stamping their tokens. Online registration is full by June.

Online registrations for the Char Dham Yatra which started in June are full. Registrations for the Yatra are available between July and November. Due to the crowd increasing beyond capacity in the four Dhams, the state government has stopped offline registration till May 31. Offline registrations can open from June 1 when the situation in the Dhams becomes normal. The registration figure for the Char Dham Yatra has crossed 31.55 lakh. Out of those, 9.61 lakh pilgrims have visited. The Char Dham Yatra started from May 10. On the very first day, a huge crowd of pilgrims gathered for darshan in Kedarnath, Gangotri Yamunotri Dham, due to which the arrangements also went off track.
