SOP issued for visiting Gangotri and Yamunotri, people prohibited from driving there after 8 P.M.

If you are coming on Chardham Yatra then definitely read this update. Uttarkashi Police has issued SOP (Special Operating Procedure) regarding the yatra, under which now no vehicle will be allowed to go to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham after 8 pm. Travel will be prohibited after 11 pm. At the same time, no traveler will be able to go from Jankichatti to visit Yamunotri Dham after 5 pm.

According to the SOP issued by SP Arpan Yaduvanshi, vehicles going to Yamunotri Dham will not be allowed to go beyond Damta, Naugaon, Barkot, Dobata, Kharadi, Paligad after 8 pm. Similarly, vehicles going to Gangotri Dham will not be sent beyond Nagun, Uttarkashi city, Heena, Bhatwadi and Gangnani after 8 pm.

At the same time, traffic on Yamunotri pedestrian route will start from 4 in the morning. No one will be sent on footpath after 5 pm. During this period, stick-carts and horses-mules will also be banned. At the same time, the system of rotation will be applicable for Dandi-Kandi and horse-mule. If the crowd increases, horses and mules will be sent through an alternative route. In both the Dhams, after 8.30 pm, after Ganga and Yamuna Aarti, no one will be able to stay in the temple premises unnecessarily. Passenger vehicles will not be stopped at any stop for more than two hours.

The traffic system will operate smoothly from 5 am every day. However, in case of emergency, passengers and devotees will be allowed to reach the emergency service point on priority basis. Apart from this, devotees going to Dham will be able to go till hotel booking after 8 pm. For this, it will be necessary for the devotees to provide information and necessary proof regarding hotel booking to the policemen deployed at the barriers. Travel will be completely prohibited after 11 pm.

Gate system will be implemented at narrow places.

To deal with the jam in the 25 km narrow section between Paligad and Jankichatti on Yamunotri Highway, gate system will be implemented for big vehicles. Big vehicles will be stopped and released after a certain time. Whereas small vehicles will continue to run. Here, on Gangotri Highway, one-way will be effective from Gangnani to Dabrani 5 km, Sukki to Jhala 7 km and Harshil to Jhala 14 km.
