Opening Ceremony at Kedarnath Dham

The Char Dham Yatra of 2024 commenced with the early morning opening of the Kedarnath Dham doors at 7 A.M. This significant event was witnessed by thousands of devotees who gathered there. The celebration was enhanced by a helicopter releasing flowers over the temple, creating a festive and spiritual atmosphere. The area echoed with the cheers of "Baba Kedar" and the music played by the Grenadier Regiment band of the Army. Devotees had started arriving and lining up for darshan as early as four in the morning.

Inauguration of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams

The first day of the Yatra saw the opening of Gangotri and Yamunotri. The doors of the Gangotri Dham were opened at 12:25 P.M following traditional rituals, while the Yamunotri Dham doors were opened at 10:29 A.M, after the arrival of the Doli of Yamuna Mata. More than 12,000 devotees visited Gangotri Dham, and 2,500 visited Yamunotri Dham on the first day. The opening ceremonies of all three Dhams attracted about 45,000 pilgrims in total, setting a new record with 30,000 visiting Kedarnath alone.

Furthermore, Kedar Tunganath temple doors were also opened. Decorated lavishly with flowers and accompanied by the chanting of mantras, the opening was a grand affair. More than 2,500 devotees had the opportunity to visit the temple after the doors opened at noon. The festive procession for Tunganath started from Chopta and reached the temple at 10 A.M.
