As the pilgrimage season for Char Dham begins, authorities have issued warnings about an increase in fraudulent activities, particularly concerning helicopter tickets to Kedarnath. Scammers impersonating legitimate agencies like Himalayan Heli, Pawan Hans, Thumby Aviation, and IRCTC are reportedly selling non-existent tickets at government-approved rates.

Scam Tactics and Payment Frauds

These fraudsters lure potential victims by claiming they can provide helicopter tickets upon receiving personal information such as Aadhar cards and Yatra registration numbers. They promise ticket delivery within 30 minutes and ask for a 25% advance payment, with the balance due upon receipt of tickets. To facilitate payments, scammers provide a so-called official QR code for transaction purposes.

Official Warnings and Advisories

Daily reports indicate numerous individuals have fallen prey to these scams. The official IRCTC HeliYatra website is the only verified platform for booking helicopter tickets to Shri Kedarnath Dham. It is crucial for pilgrims to ensure their bookings are legitimate by checking their tickets on this site.

Authorities have clarified that no new tickets are available until June 20, and all helicopter operators, agents, or touts offering tickets from Sirsi, Phata, and Guptkashi are unauthorized.

Guidance on Avoiding Scams

To prevent falling victim to such scams, individuals are advised:

1. To avoid making payments through any QR code or unsolicited numbers.
2. To use credit cards for payments, which may offer the possibility of disputing transactions and securing a refund if fraud is detected.

Pilgrims planning to visit Shri Kedarnath Dham are urged to book tickets exclusively through the authorized IRCTC HeliYatra website and remain vigilant against any offers that seem too good to be true.
