Augustmuni is a quaint little town situated on the banks of the Mandakini River in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The town lies on the way to Kedarnath and is only 18 km away from Rudraprayag, another beautiful town surrounded by the great mountains of Uttarakhand. As surmised from the name ‘Augustmuni,’ the town was the spiritual abode of Saint Agastya, a well-known scholar in Hindu mythology. It is also believed that he was the first person who spread Yoga across the world. There is a famous temple in this town by the same name, and it is believed that it was the place where the sage Agastya worshipped Lord Shiva. The temple is also recognized by the Archaeological Survey of India and features beautiful carvings of famous Hindu idols on its walls.

Best Time to Visit
From July to September, Uttarakhand receives heavy rainfall, which makes it less ideal to visit during that period. Apart from these months, the place is good to explore throughout the year. To beat the summer heat, you can visit and explore this town between March and June, as the temperature here ranges from 25°C to 32°C.
If you want to experience the town covered in snowfall, winter is also a great time to visit. However, make sure to carry heavy woolen clothing to stay warm.

Augustmuni is 434 km away from Delhi and 18 km from Rishikesh. So, you can plan accordingly and take a private taxi or a train to reach Augustmuni.

If you choose to travel by air, the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airbase in Dehradun. From there, you can either take a private taxi or a Volvo bus to reach this place.
By Train
If you prefer traveling by train, the nearest railway station is Dehradun Railway Station. From there, you will find several private taxi services that will safely take you to Augustmuni. Alternatively, if you prefer to take a Volvo bus, the bus stand is adjacent to the railway station, where you can get a bus ticket.
By Road
If you prefer driving yourself or taking a bus, Augustmuni is well-connected by motorable roads. However, there is no direct bus to Augustmuni. First, you need to reach Rishikesh, and from there, you can catch a direct bus to this place.
