Harshil & Kharsali to have Helicopter service for Gangotri & Yamunotri

Very soon Chardham pilgrims will be able to avail Helicopter journey to the Gangotri as well as Yamunotri Dham. At Yamunotri a helipad is likely to be built on the land that had been allotted for ropeway services. At present Harsil has two helipads to allow the heli services facility to pilgrims

According to a rough estimate, there may be a huge swell in rush of Chardham pilgrims for the forthcoming Yatra. The various hotels of region are getting booked speedily through the online channel. The administration of the district proposes to offer pilgrims with a heli service to the shrines of Yamunotri and Gangotri, the coming season. As per a survey result nearly 30 percent of visitors to Chardham vote for the heli services

There is an existing provision of 2 helipads at Harsil. Post landing at Harsil helipads, pilgrims need to travel nearly 23kms more via road to reach Gangotri Dham. In Yamunotri, the land allotted for ropeway has been chosen for the proposed helipad construction project of late.
