Taking a lesson from the disasters coming upon Uttarakhand, the construction of a danger-free road for Chardham yatra will be initiated from the month of February. As per the received information, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may arrive at Haridwar with the purpose of carrying out the ground-breaking religious ceremonies pertaining to the above-mentioned road construction. This ground-breaking ceremony was supposed to be held during the Dusherra of 2015 but due to some reasons got postponed. In the context of this road construction plan, the Central Road & Transport minister Nitin Gadkari has remarked that this highway incurring a cost of some 11 crores will be free from dangers and will be ready for usage within a span of three years. Every time during a Chardham yatra, landslides and road accidents occur. Seeing this, the construction project of this highway has been put into motion. This project for constructing a road of length, 889kms had been lying in the pipelines since last one year.
The specialty about this road construction project lies in the fact that separate roads will be constructed for villagers and pedestrians. It is a noteworthy fact that each year lakhs of devotees arrive here for paying a visit to the shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri and so long they had to encounter issues like landslides, rains and road accidents.
