On Sunday Char Dham devotees were blessed with an unpredicted snowfall. Kedarnath and Badrinath saw snowfall in regular and continuous intervals, whereas, the temperature in Yamunotri and Gangotri fell to 0 due to continuous rainfall. However the devotees and pilgrimage seekers were not affected by the sudden weather change and continued their journey as planned. On Sunday morning Kedarnath saw clear skies however, at 10 o clock rainfall took over which was followed by snowfall. Devotees who were waiting in line to complete their rituals continued to stand in lines by wearing raincoats and making use of umbrellas. Due to the absence of appropriate facilities in case of rain or snowfall, devotees were helplessly stranded under the open skies, in line and couldn’t do anything but get wet in rain.
On Sunday, Badrinath’s Nar Narayan and Neelkanth Mountain also experienced heavy snowfall. Afternoon time in Badripuri saw fluctuating weather conditions, sometimes raining and other times it was sunny. Post afternoon time in Badripuri also experienced some amount of snowfall, which did not affect the innumerable devotees present there. The overall temperature at 10 in the morning in Badrinath Dham was 6 degrees.
Gangotri and Yamunotri Experience Rainfall, Snowfall in Gaumukh
On Sunday Uttarkashi district’s Gangotri, Yamunotri along with a several other nearby regions experienced rainfall the whole day. Several of the pilgrims and devotees from all over the world were seen buying warm clothes. Several neighboring places like Gaumukh, Tapovan and Chirbasa also experienced mild snowfall along with rainfall.
The Temperature Dropped below Zero
Due to excessive cold in the Yamunotri and Gangotri regions the overall temperature of the whole area fell below zero degrees. While the temperature in Gangotri dropped to minus 2 degrees at the same time the temperature in Yamunotri dropped to minus 3 degrees. Temperature in Kedarnath also experienced a dip till 6 degrees.
Highest number of devotees flocks in Badrinath till date
Out of all the Char Dham Yatra, Badrinath has seen the highest number of visitors till now. According to the Mandir committee, almost 90 thousand devotees have visited this place for worshipping. Kedarnath has seen 78,578 visitors, Gangotri has seen 47,181 visitors and Yamunotri has seen 48,862 visitors till date.
The weather department has confirmed bright sunny days in the char Dham Yatra on Monday. However, on 7th and 8th may the weather may change which will involve harsh winds and rains.
