The journey to Kedarnath from Phata takes just 8 minutes by helicopter. Pilgrims can choose from various different helicopter providers, such as Pawan Hans and Pinnacle Air, which offer 5 to 7 seats. You also have the option of browsing, selecting, and booking your seat online well before the commencement of the Yatra. Various helicopter services are also available from Augustmuni; however, the Phata helipad reduces the flying time by 20 minutes and is much preferred by pilgrims.

Best Time to Visit
Because Phata is a place surrounded by towering mountain ranges, it receives a fair amount of snowfall during the winter season. So, visiting this town during the winter will not be such a good idea. However, if you are adamant about witnessing snowfall in this area, you can consider going in December. Otherwise, you cannot reach the village from January to March, as the area generally enters the red-alert zone during that time.
The ideal time to visit Phata is from April to June and September to November. It will also not be a good idea to visit it during the monsoon, because Uttarakhand receives heavy rainfall during this season, and you may find yourself stuck in your hotel room all day.

The nearest airport to Phata is Jolly Grant Airbase in Dehradun (235 km away from Phata). Instead of reaching out to taxi services outside the Airbase, it is better to first talk to the taxi services available at the airbase, as they usually provide better security.
By Train
The nearest railway station to Phata is Dehradun (235 km away from Phata), so book your tickets accordingly.
