Legend of Badrinath Yatra
As per the religious anecdotes, Lord Vishnu is believed to have meditated in Badrinath for thousands of years. However, it was quite cold in the valley, but God didn’t bother as he was deep into meditation. Goddess Laxmi, his consort, couldn’t see him like that and therefore took the form of a Badri tree in order to shield him from the Himalayan cold. When Lord Vishnu got to know about it, he was very pleased with her. And as a gift, he named her Badri, and he himself came to be known as Badrinath!
