By Air – Holly grant is located at a distance of around 279 km from Auli and is situated in the capital city of Dehradun. The airport receives flights from Delhi and other major towns. Once can hire a car on rental service or taxi / cab transportation to help you reach Auli quickly and comfortably.
By Train – If you are heading for Auli from Dehradun then you can go to the Dehradun railway station and get the Shatabdi train for Rishikesh. From here you can get a cab or a bus service heading for Joshimath which is situated at the road for Rishikesh to Badrinath. Raiwala Railway Station in Rishikesh is another important station for reaching Auli. Be sure to reach the Auli ropeway before sunset which covers a distance of 4 km from Joshimath.
By Road – Auli is well connected by a network of roads connecting various major and minor cities and towns surrounding Uttarakhand. Various taxi and cab services are available to take you to Auli in a very convenient manner. Apart from this local state bus services also ply from Delhi, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun etc. Volvo bus services are also available. One can also take their own private car to Auli since most of the hotels and accommodation facilities provide parking facilities as well.
By Cable Car – The Auli Gorson ropeway system from Joshimath is famed for being the highest ropeway of India and it further eases the difficult trek of 4.5 km on foot and takes you on a fun ropeway ride amidst the mesmerising views and sceneries. Overall it is a journey of 22 minutes going at a speed of 3 metres per second with a carrying capacity of 25 passengers in one trip. The tariff for per person on the cable car is Rs.1,000/- whereas the Chair Lift service costs Rs.300/- Per Person.

From Delhi, Auli is located at a distance of 487 kms and can be visited throughout the year. The following route can be followed for this journey which takes 10 to 11 hours to cover:
Delhi – Roorkee – Haridwar – Rishikesh – Rudraprayag – Chamoli – Auli
You will be required to keep almost 4 to 5 days for vacation if you are going to visit Auli by road since the journey will be tiring and testing.
From Dehradun – Auli is located at a distance of 297 km from Dehraund and is well connected with several networks of roads and highways. One would be following the given route for the same:
Dehradun – Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Chamoli / Gopeshwar – Auli
From Nainital – The hill town and a wonderful holiday destination of Auli is situated at a distance of almost 274 km and can be included in an excursion of a day or 2 during winter as well as a summer holiday getaway. The given route map will be followed for covering the trip:
Nainital – Ranikhet – Dwarahat – Chamoli Gopeshwar – Pipalkoti – Auli
Things to Remember:
- During the winter months of December to mid-march the road leading for Auli from Joshimath is not in an operational condition due to it being covered by heavy snowfall.
- For winter the only way to get to Auli is via a cable car ride which goes over the snow-covered route.
- The final cable car ride in winter leaves at 4:20 pm in the evening while it is 5:30 pm during the summer season.
- If in case you miss the cable car after the final departure then you will be required to stay in Joshimath for the night.
